The Great Seal of the United States of America
MATERIALS AND WORKMANSHIP
The Great Seal of US is made out of precious metals: silver, brass and copper.
It’s exclusively handcrafted using traditional goldsmith’s method making casting sheets by: filling, soldering, sawing, forging, rasping, polishing metals and hand engraving.
For making the Great Seal, about 90% of silver is used and the rest are brass and copper.

- Altogether 181 pieces of zircons are used.

The feathers of the Eagle are made of several silver casting sheets assembling one to each other and finally decorated with hand engraving. Each letter of the inscription “E Pluribus Unum” is hand sawed, rasped and attached onto a ribbon. The Bundle of Thirteen Arrows is separately made and attached in Eagle’s left talon such as Olive branch in the right talon. A zircon decorates the Eagle’s eye.
The round background is made out of natural white stones, square pieces (2x2 cm) with blue ring
around them, decorated with 50 silver stars.
The artwork is put in a custom made round flamed wooden frame. The inner part of the frame is
coated with white plush. Glass protects the metal Coat of Arms of the Great Seal of United States.
The diameter of the round frame is 68 cm with depth of 16 cm.
The inscription „UNITED STATES OF AMERICA“ are made out of brass. They are hand sawed,
rasped and attached onto the wooden frame.

The production time needed for the handmade Great Seal of United States of America took 6 months.
